Introduction

Yanghee Lee is a South Korean developmental psychologist and professor at Sungkyunkwan University. She is most noted for her work in international human rights organisations. She has served in the following roles: Chairperson of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (2007-2011). Chairperson of the Meeting of Chairpersons of Treaty Bodies (2010-2011). United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar. She also founded the International Child Rights Center. She received her undergraduate education at Georgetown University and her postgraduated education at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She had been awarded 2009 Human Rights Award of Korea, as winner.
