Ron Erhardt

Ron Erhardt (September 5, 1931 – April 21, 2012) was an American football coach who served as the head coach for the New England Patriots from 1979 to 1981. He was also the offensive coordinator for several NFL teams during his coaching career.

As a coach, Ron Erhardt was instrumental in leading the New England Patriots to their first ever Super Bowl appearance in 1986. He also won two AFC Championships with the team in 1985 and 1996. Throughout his coaching career, Erhardt was known for his expertise in developing offensive strategies and mentoring young quarterbacks.

Apart from his tenure with the New England Patriots, Ron Erhardt served as the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants from 1979 to 1982, and from 1994 to 1995. He also had coaching stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, New York Jets, and the Arizona Cardinals.

Ron Erhardt was a firm believer in a balanced offensive approach, focusing on a mix of passing and running plays. He emphasized the importance of discipline, execution, and working as a cohesive unit. Erhardt's coaching style placed a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of football, allowing his teams to be consistently competitive.

Ron Erhardt passed away on April 21, 2012, at the age of 80. His death was the result of complications from Parkinson's disease, which he had been battling for several years prior to his passing.
