Introduction

Robert Pelikán (born 18 October 1979, in Prague) is a Czech lawyer and politician, currently serving (as of March 2015) as Czech Minister of Justice in the government of Bohuslav Sobotka. On 12 March 2015, he replaced Helena Válková as a candidate for ANO 2011.

Biography

Pelikán studied at the Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague. From 2008 to 2014 he worked for Vrána & Pelikán law firm, which he co-founded. He has served as the First Deputy Minister of Justice since June 2014.

He has been criticized by Pavel Zeman, Supreme Public Prosecutor of the Czech Republic, for his intent to increase state executive control over the Prosecutor's Offices.
