Olivia Sandoval
Introduction
Olivia Sandoval is an American film and television actress, and a musician. She is known for portraying the police officer, "Winnie Lopez," in Fargo, and for the role of "Celia Chavez" in For The People.
Sandoval comes from an acting family and is the daughter of American character actor, Miguel Sandoval (born 16 November 1951.)
Acting Career
Olivia Sandoval made her acting debut in 2007, playing the character of "Arianna Devalo" in "Very Merry Maggie" episode of the television series, Medium. She appeared in the series again in the same role in the 2010 episode, "Dear Dad." Her father, Miguel Sandoval, is also a part of the series and plays the role of D.A. Manuel Devalos.
Her film debut came in in 2009, with a minor role in the British director Alex Cox's comedy file, Repo Chick. After appearing in various successful television series such as Futurestates (2014,) Bad Judge (2015,) The Odd Couple (2015,) and The Real O'Neals (2017,) she landed her breakthrough role of police officer, "Winnie Lopez," in television series, Fargo. She appeared in seven episodes in 2017.
On the role, she said in a 2017 interview with Parade magazine:
Also, my mother is from Missouri and comes from Midwestern stock. I am familiar with “Minnesota nice” or “Midwestern nice.” That way of relating to people is familiar. I thought a lot about my grandmother. Bridge is a big thing during this season. My grandmother was an absolutely ferociously competitive bridge player. I remember being a little girl and how she interacted with her friends at bridge parties. I think about the smiles, the subtext. That grounded it for me.
In 2018, she appeared as "Ms. Prager" in Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively starrer comedy film, A Simple Favor. The same year, she landed the recurring role of "Celia Chavez" in the television series, For The People. She appeared in eight episodes from 2018 to 2019.
She was also seen regularly as "Janet Price" in the comedy/drama television series, Lodge 49.
Sandowal recently filmed for Paul Feig's television comedy, Girls Code. The film is currently in post-production and stars British actresses Sophia Di Martino and Kirby Howell-Baptiste in lead roles.
Music Career
Olivia Sandoval is also an accomplished musician. She plays upright bass for the folk-Irish Rock Band, Whiskey Sunday. The other band members include Patrick Rieger (vocals and guitar,) with Adam Hall (banjo and dobro,) Liam Lewis (Mandolin and fiddle) and Vito Gutilla (fiddle.) The band was founded by Patrick Rieger and Deidre Moore in 2012, and she met with the band about a year later as actors in a theatre company.
