Introduction

Edmund van Stralen "Ned" Claxton Jr. (born March 16, 1949) is an American physician and politician from Auburn, Maine. He was elected to his first term in the Maine Senate in November 2018. He defeated Republican Eleanor Espling for the seat.

Early life and education

Claxton was born in Massachusetts and attended Princeton University. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and received family practice training at the University of Minnesota.

Personal life

Ned lives in Auburn with his wife Marian (Kitsie), a former hospice chaplain with Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice. They have two adult sons, Nicholas Claxton and Will Claxton, who attended Auburn area schools and were active in local sports.
