Introduction

Murray MacLeod (born September 9, 1940) is an American actor, television and film composer, and singer known for his roles in The Angry Breed (1968), The Incredible Hulk (1981) and others, and for his music in Stingray (1978), James at 16 (1977-1978), and Bret Maverick (1981-1982).

Early life

MacLeod was born on September 9, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. His mother, Joanne Jordan, was a renowned spokesmodel on television in the 1950s. He has a brother Dustin and sister, Melinda.

Career

MacLeod along with his sister, Melinda, and Roger Nichols, formed the Small Circle of Friends (a.k.a. Roger Nichols Trio). Simultaneously, he was a singer with The Parade (along with Jerry Riopelle and Smokey Roberds), which had a Billboard Top 20 hit, "Sunshine Girl" in 1967.

Macleod made his television debut in 1965, portraying the character of "Spider" in "The Understudy" episode of TV series Karen. In 1969, he and Dennis Whitcomb were cast as two young men released from the United States Army still living on a temporarily deserted western fort in the episode "A Full House" of the syndicated television series, Death Valley Days, based on true stories and hosted by Robert Taylor, shortly before Taylor's own death. The two engage in a poker game in which the loser agrees to get married; soon both are in love and things fall into place like a storybook romance. Heidi Vaughn and June Zachary play the female leads.

MacLeod played the role of "Monty Harris" in a late second season episode of Room 222, who returns from Vietnam and re-enrolls in Walt Whitman High School, hoping to be more of a success than during his first time around.

MacLeod was last seen on TV in 1996, playing the role of "Minister" in director Stuart Margolin's TV movie The Rockford Files: Friends and Foul Play.

As a composer, he provided music to a wide range of TV movies and series in the 1970s and 80s, including Evil Roy Slade (1972), The Orphan and the Dude (1975), Starsky and Hutch (1975-1979), and Bret Maverick (1981-1982).

Personal life

MacLeod is married to his wife Stephanie Edwards, actress and TV personality of "Tournament of Roses" Parade fame.
