Introduction

Amanda Louise "Mandy" Smith (born 17 July 1970) is an English former pop singer and model.

Early life

Mandy Smith was convent educated, and lived in Tottenham as a young child. She met Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman when she attended the BPI Awards with her sister Nichola Smith. She also modelled for Boy and Katherine Hamnett. She became famous due to her relationship with Wyman. The story broke in 1986, on her return from Marbella, Spain.

Music career

In 1986, Smith was to be interviewed on Irish television show Saturday Live, but cancelled when broadcaster RTÉ decided she would be interviewed from a seat in the audience rather than on the set. RTÉ said she was "not important enough" and that she might "give a bad example to young teenage girls". The story appeared in the international media.

Personal life

In 1989, Smith married Bill Wyman. They divorced in 1991.

On 19 June 1993, she married footballer Pat Van Den Hauwe, but this only lasted two years. She published her biography It's All Over Now in 1993. In 2001, she was briefly engaged to Vanity Fair fashion model Ian Mosby with whom she had a son, Max Harrison Mosby. Smith is currently a resident of Manchester where she has now become a teetotaller and vegan. Smith was raised as a Catholic and, in recent years, has returned to the church.

Other interests

Having tried a career as a make-up artist, Smith was reported in May 2009 to be training to be a counsellor. In the 1990s, Smith wrote a beauty/fashion column for a magazine; since 2012, she has written an advice column for a Christian lifestyle magazine.
