Introduction
Les Belshaw (birth registered October→December 1927 – 11 February 2016) birth registered in Doncaster, West Riding of Yorkshire, was an English sports writer, rugby photographer, and professional rugby league footballer of the 1950s, and coach of the 1960s, playing at club level for Doncaster, and Barrow, as a Prop, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums, and coaching at club level for Doncaster, he died at the Methodist Homes for the Aged Warde Aldam Care Home in South Elmsall, his funeral took place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ascot Avenue, Cantley, Doncaster, DN4 6HE at 1.30pm on Friday 11 March 2016.

Les Belshaw's marriage to Dorothy M. Thompson was registered during April→June 1950 in Doncaster district. They had children; Doctor Christopher "Chris" D. Belshaw (birth registered during January→March 1952 (age 64–65) in Doncaster district),[1] a senior lecturer in philosophy at the Open University, and Michael "Mike" J. Belshaw (birth registered during April→June 1953 (age 63–64) in Don Valley district) a lecturer in art at Doncaster College .
