

John W. Rose
Introduction
John Williams Rose (born February 23, 1965) was the 33rd Commissioner of Agriculture for the State of Tennessee and is President of Boson Software, LLC.
Background
Rose was born and raised in Cookeville, Tennessee, and earned an agribusiness economics degree from Tennessee Technological University, a Master of Science degree in agricultural economics from Purdue University, and a Law Degree from Vanderbilt University. After law school, he co-founded Transcender Corp., a company that earned the prestigious Music City Future 50 Award five consecutive years. Transcender Corp. was sold in October 2000 for $60 million.
Rose's father is the late Jerry Lancaster Rose, who was raised on the family farm in DeKalb County, Tennessee, and his mother is the late Betty Williams Rose, raised in Fentress County, Tennessee, by parents Guy and Gladys Williams. He is married to Chelsea (Doss) Rose, a Macon County, Tennessee, native who was raised in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Both are actively involved as volunteers with causes such as the Lancaster Independence Day Parade Committee, Tennessee Technological University, Tennessee Future Farmers of America Foundation, and the Tennessee State Fair. The couple attends church at Buffalo Valley Church of Christ in Putnam County, Tennessee.
Career
Commissioner of Agriculture
In 2002, Rose was appointed Commissioner of Agriculture for the State of Tennessee. As a lifelong farmer and owner of one of Tennessee's oldest working farms, Rose was only 37 at the time of his appointment.
Tennessee State Fair Association Chairman
Rose is the chairman of the Tennessee State Fair Association. The Tennessee State Fair Association is run by a volunteer board of directors. Rose has chaired the group as a volunteer since 2010.
6th Congressional District Candidacy
Rose, a Republican, is running for the United States Congress 6th Congressional District, a seat held currently by Republican Diane Black, who is running for Governor of the State of Tennessee.
