Introduction
John Adrain (born 1960) is an American entrepreneur and inventor, he is also the CEO and founder of Safety and Security and Heracles Research.
His products, in particular, the BedBunker, received mainstream prominence after a parody feature on the Stephen Colbert show. The National Geographic channel calls him a ‘Doomsday Prepper’.
Inventions
Adrain has developed a variety of products, including bullet-proof blinds, safes, car, couch and bed bunkers for weapons, as well as security chips for automobiles.
Early life
Adrain was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended college at Utah State University, earning a degree in business administration. Adrain developed an interest in becoming an inventor at a very early age, inspired by his father, who was in the military.
Career
Adrain began his career by working at Indiana-based Kruse International.
One of the first companies he founded was Adaptive Technology Inc.The company developed aftermarket automotive components.He invented the Prompaq switching system, a device which could mount prom chips and allow one to switch between various performance programs.The device was used in vehicles such as the Z28 Camaro and the GMC Cyclone.
In 2007 he founded Heracles Research Corporation. Originally the company was founded as an arms manufacturer, today its main products include the BedBunker, Couch Bunker, SUV Console Bunker, and Truck Bunker. The company is based in Texas.
He also founded Safety and Security, a security consultancy company. Heracles Research acts as a production arm for Safety and Security.
Adrain owns patents related to the industries of automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics, these include bullet-proof blinds and a wiper apparatus for clearing shavings. He has also dealt with government bodies such as the FBI, ATF and border patrol.
