Introduction
Ian Kidd (born May 11, 1964 in Gresham, Oregon) is an American retired professional ice hockey defenseman. Selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1986 NHL Supplemental Draft, he played 30 games for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League between 1987 and 1989, but spent the bulk of his professional career in the minor International Hockey League. Prior to turning professional Kidd played college hockey at the University of North Dakota, winning the NCAA championship in 1987.
