Fred Stone

Fred Stone was an American actor and comedian who was known for his performances in musical theatre and vaudeville during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was also a popular radio personality and appeared in several films.

Fred Stone is best remembered for his portrayal of the Scarecrow in the original Broadway production of "The Wizard of Oz" in 1902. He reprised this role in multiple productions throughout his career and became synonymous with the character.

While Fred Stone primarily found success on the stage, he did have a notable career in film as well. He appeared in several silent films during the 1910s and 1920s, including "The Flaming Crisis" and "The Voice in the Fog."

In addition to his iconic role as the Scarecrow, Fred Stone performed in a variety of other stage productions. Some of his notable roles include the lead in "The Red Mill," Simon Simple in "The Old Town," and Archibald Grosvenor in "Patience."

Fred Stone was a popular radio personality in the early days of broadcasting. He hosted his own radio show called "The Fred Stone Show," where he showcased his comedic talents and entertained audiences with songs and skits.
