Introduction
Eva Stefani (born 1964) is an American documentary filmmaker, visual artist, poet, and educator.
Early life and education
Stefani was born in 1964 in Alexandria, Virginia. She studied political science at the University of Athens, Greece, from 1981 to 1987 and then documentary filmmaking at the Ateliers Varan in Paris until 1989. From 1989 to 1991, she studied film and ethnographic film at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, New York, and earned an MA degree.
From 1991 to 1995, she completed a documentary education at the National Film and Television School, Beaconsfield, England. Later, she earned a Ph.D. degree in Ethnographic Filmmaking at Panteion University, Athens, Greece.
Career
Stefani has been teaching film studies at the University of Athens since 2000. She was a visiting professor at the Institute of Greek and Latin Philology at the Free University of Berlin. She shoots videos and Super 8 movies.
In 2019, she and Panos Charalambous and Zafos Xagoraris participated in La Biennale di Venezia.
