Introduction

Edward Pier (March 31, 1807 – November 2, 1877) was an American pioneer and politician.

Biography

Born in New Haven, Vermont, Pier moved with his family in 1834 to Michigan Territory and stayed in Green Bay, Michigan Territory. In 1836, Pier moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin Territory. Pier was a farmer and a merchant. He served on the county board of supervisors, county treasurer, and was superintendent of the poor. He also served as trustee of the insane asylum in Madison, Wisconsin. From 1856 to 1857, Pier served in the Wisconsin State Senate. He died in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on November 2, 1877.
