Introduction

Eden Cale (born July 14, 1985) is an American actress and filmmaker. She is the daughter of Risé Irushalmi Cale and Velvet Underground founding member John Cale.

Early life

Eden Cale was born as Eden Myfanwy Cale on July 14, 1985, at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City, New York, as the first and only descendant of Welsh musician and composer John Cale and his third wife Risé Irushalmi Cale.

She began playing the violin at the age of seven, later, however, she switched to filmmaking and was no longer engaged in music.

Career

In 2006, Eden Cale starred in the documentary Revolution in Three Acts, directed by filmmaker Valerie Veatch, which screened at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.

In 2010, Cale made her directional debut with The Roast. The film was written by Owen Pallett and was played by Thomas McDonell, Genevieve Hudson-Price, and the director herself. The film was awarded Best Dark Comedy Short at the 2010 New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.

Also in 2010, she appeared in directors Melissa Painter and David Weisman's short biographical documentary Edie: Girl on Fire. The film is based on the life of American model/socialite Edie Sedgwick and was written by Leonard Schrader and Weisman. Acclaimed artist Andy Warhol was also seen in the archive footage.

In 2011, Cale directed the music video for her father's song Catastrofuk, starring Dustin Boyer, Michael Jerome Moore, and John Cale.

Cale was last seen on the silver screen in 2013 in "Sonnet #41" episode of the TV series The Sonnet Project, alongside Shermon Braithwaite and Johnny Sparks.

Cale also performed background vocals in several of her father's songs from the albums Walking on Locusts (1996), 5 Tracks (2003), HoboSapiens (2003), and Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood (2012).
