Introduction

James Draper (born 14 August 1991) known professionally as Draper, is a French-born British producer. He is best known for his remixes for many mainstream artists and his unique melodic electronic style. His first commercial EP release was in November 2012.

Music career

James' desire to produce electronic music started at the age of 16 when he got some software to make music from his parents.

2010: Early Career

At the age of 18 James joined producer-based website Indaba Music. Here he developed his name, winning several remix competitions for well-known artists. In late 2010, he released his first original music The Introduction EP. A month after its release frontman of the British rock band “Bring Me The Horizon” Oliver Sykes found Draper's music through a Canadian music blog. Sykes then helped the young producer get heard and endorsed Draper's second self-titled EP through his clothing label Drop Dead.

2012-Present: Breakthrough

After the release of his second EP, Draper acquired many high-profile remixes, including Twin Atlantic, Passion Pit, and Ellie Goulding. His remix for Goulding appeared on her Tesco exclusive edition of her album Halcyon. After graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a 1st class honors degree in Media Technology, Draper was invited to DJ for Rita Ora at the Capital Summertime Ball 2012. He was subsequently invited back to support Rita on her debut headline arena tour. In May 2013, Draper entered into a publishing deal with Turn First Artists. Draper wrote/produced for The Invisible Men for two years (2013-2015). Maintaining his own stream of commercial releases, Draper continues to release through Canadian electronic label Monstercat.
