Introduction
Dr. Daniel S. Papp was the President of Kennesaw State University (KSU), a position he has held for 10 years. On May 10, 2016 he announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2016, after auditors had found that he had been given over $500,000 of deferred compensation during his time at the school.
Education
Dr. Papp is a Phi Beta Kappa. Graduate of Dartmouth College with a bachelor's degree in International Affairs in 1969. In 1973, Papp received a Ph.D. in International Affairs from the University of Miami. He is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Career
Early career
Dr. Papp's first position in academia was as an Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech in 1973. Papp also has held visiting and research professor positions at Fudan University, in Shanghai, China; the Center for Aerospace Doctrine, Research and Education at the U.S. Air War College, in Montgomery, Ala.; the Strategic Studies Institute at the U.S. Army War College, in Carlisle, Pa.; and the Western Australia Institute of Technology, in Perth, Australia.
In 1990 he became the founding director and professor for Georgia Tech's Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. Papp remained a professor at Georgia Tech until 1997 when he was appointed interim president of Southern Polytechnic State University.
President of KSU
Prior to his appointment at KSU, he was the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academics and Fiscal Affairs to the University System of Georgia.
