Daniel Pratt

Daniel Pratt was an American industrialist who founded Prattville, Alabama and became known as the "Father of Southern Industry."

Daniel Pratt was a successful businessman and entrepreneur, primarily involved in the cotton gin manufacturing industry. He founded the Daniel Pratt Gin Company, which became one of the largest cotton gin manufacturers in the world.

Daniel Pratt played a key role in the development and growth of Prattville, Alabama. He built a cotton gin factory, a gristmill, a sawmill, and other industrial infrastructure, attracting many workers and transforming the town into a prosperous industrial center.

Daniel Pratt was known for his eccentric behavior, such as wearing multiple pairs of pants, being a vegetarian, banning cats from his town, and herding large flocks of geese around. He was also rumored to have tried to import elephants to Prattville.
