Introduction
Charles Herbert Levin (1949 – 2019) was an American film, stage, and television actor. He is known for appearing in numerous popular television shows such as Punky Brewster, Thirtysomething, Night Court, L.A. Law, Designing Women, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, and Law & Order.
Levin was found dead under mysterious circumstances on July 14, 2019.
Early life
Levin was born on March 12, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois.
Career
Levin’s acting career began in mid-1970s. In 1977, he in appeared in Woody Allen directed Annie Hall, and Joan Micklin Silver directed Between the Lines. In 1979, he worked with Woody Allen again in the film Manhattan.
In the later part of his career he worked in numerous television shows, including Punky Brewster, Thirtysomething, Night Court, L.A. Law, Designing Women, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, and Law & Order.
He is best known for the role of Elliot Novak on the series Alice (1983-1985). In the years 1982 to 1986, he had the recurring role of Eddie Gregg on Hill Street Blues.
In 1985, on the pilot episode of The Golden Girls, he played the gay cook, Coco, though his part was dropped in favor of of Sophia Petrillo character, played by Estelle Getty.
In 1993, Levin played the character of mohel on "The Bris" episode of Seinfeld.
He appeared as a guest star on many television shows including Family Ties, Tales from the Darkside, The Twilight Zone, The Facts of Life, Falcon Crest (as Herman Łunchable), Punky Brewster(as Officer Bob), Thirtysomething, Night Court, L.A. Law (as Robert Caporale), Designing Women, Murphy Brown, NYPD Blue, and Law & Order.

Levin was married to actress, Katherine DeHetre.
Disappearance and death
On July 8, 2019, Levin’s son in Los Angeles reported to the police that Charles Levin was missing. Through a cell phone ping and with help from a witness, Josephine County police, in Oregon, traced Levin’s car, an orange 2012 Fiat, to a “very remote and almost impassible road.” Levin’s pug, Boo Bear, was found dead in the car, but Levin actor was not in the car, officials said. The crew found human remains several hours later, which they believe have a “high probability” of belonging to Levin.
