Charles Erwin Price IV (born July 6, 2005), known professionally as Cgquad, is an American rapper, singer, & producer.
Cgquad is characterized by his simplistic clothing, consistent use of shades or sunglasses and non stop turnt energy with sound built on a melodic, rage approach to trap.
Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Cobb County, Georgia, Cgquad gained initial recognition from Tiktok, using the platform to catch viewers attention from short-form, comedic content. He would eventually use his Tiktok platform to promote projects like Creation (2023) & Luminous (2024), gaining fan traction and building anticipation for the release of third commercial mixtape Modern Melodic (2026).
EARLY LIFE
Charles Price (a.k.a. Cgquad) was born July 6, 2005, on the south side of Chicago, Illinois in Roseland neighborhood. Relocated to Cobb County, Georgia, where he would grow up, he gained southern influence from Atlanta artist Future, where as his main musical influences are credited to Lil Uzi Vert, Chief Keef, & Famous Dex.
Cgquad would begin making music in 2014, using an iPhone4 and GarageBand, later releasing music onto Soundcloud under the name Chiraqshorty from 2017-2019. In August of 2020, he would then switch his name to Cgquad in tribute to his late father, Chan Gilla, who was also an artist and what got Cgquad initially into making music.
Cgquad would go on to graduate high school early in December 2022, leading to a move out to California in January 2023. This led to a complete rebrand and catalog wipe, deleting all previous work and releasing Outstanding as a first official single, building the artist producer relationship with Hugh Alston. Cgquad then released singles Love Died & Self Centered, gaining him traction, leading to his first commercial mixtape Creation on July 21, 2023 which would stamp a great legitimate start in his music career.
