Introduction

Cecil Youngfox (1942–1987) was an Ojibwa artist from Canada who was a recipient of the Aboriginal Order of Canada. Some of his famous paintings include, In Search Of Land, and Returning.

Early life and career

Youngfox was born in 1942 in Blind River, Ontario, Canada, to Ojibway and Metis parents.

He is remembered as one of Canada's leading native artists, celebrated for his vivid, sensitive images of native cultural traditions. He received numerous honors, including the Aboriginal Order of Canada for his work in preserving his native heritage.

Youngfox died on 24 February 1987, at the age of 45. His work and imaginative vision continue to inspire artists and earn the respect of private and public collectors throughout the world.
