Introduction
Carl Summers (real name Car Somers, born November 22, 1943) is an American singer, songwriter, and producer, with the band The Continentals and his own band Cix Bits Band.
Biography
Carl Summers was born Car Somers on November 22, 1943.
Summers, who also goes by Carl Rogel or Mr. Cix, trained under Barry White in 1969. As a producer, he produced Joe Tex, Edwin Starr, and Band of Gypsys for Haze Records. As a background singer, he sang on Edwin Hawkins' records and on the D. J. Rogers' albums for RCA Records.
In 1973/1974, under the name Carl Rogel, Summers was signed to Stax Records' Enterprise label.
In 1973, as Mr. Cix, Summers recorded two singles, "Season's Greetings" and "New Year's Resolution", for Stax Records. The following year, he recorded the album Country Boy, City Man with Haze Records (also as Mr. Cix.). Also in 1974, he recorded the single "You Can Do That Swang (Young Thang)" on Haze Records.
Summers also performed as an alternate lead singer and harmony singer with the original The Coasters—Will " Dub " Jones, Billy Guy, Cornell Gunter, Young Jessie, Adolph Jacobs for thirty-four years.
In 1992, Summers produced the music video for "Return of The Gap Band".
