Introduction

Annie Corley (born 1960) is an American film and television actress best known for playing the daughter of Meryl Streep's character in Clint Eastwood's drama The Bridges of Madison County.

Early life and education

Annie Corley was born in 1960 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. She attended McCutcheon High School in Lafayette, Indiana, and later studied at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, graduating in 1982 with a major in communication. At the university, she was active in student theatrical productions. 

Biography

In her early acting career, Corley performed on stage and was spotted by an agent while appearing in a play Off-Broadway. She made her screen debut in 1989, in the role of "Nurse Fletcher" in an episode of the TV series All My Children, appearing alongside Julia BarrPeter Bergman, and David Canary. The following year, in 1990, she was seen as "Angie" in "The Family Man" episode of the TV series Monsters.

1992 saw Corley's film debut with the portrayal of a TV reporter in director Spike Lee's biographical drama Malcolm X, which is based on the life of Malcolm XDenzel Washington plays the character of Malcolm X and Angela Bassett plays his wife Betty Shabazz.

After appearing in a variety of TV movies such as Pointman (1994), Children of the Dark (1994), A Time to Heal (1994), and Beyond Betrayal (1994), Corley landed her most memorable role of "Carolyn Johnson" in Clint Eastwood's romance drama The Bridges of Madison County. She plays the character of the daughter of Francesca Johnson (played by Meryl Streep.)

Since then, Corley has been seen in several Oscar-nominated films, such as Lasse Hallström's The Cider House Rules (1999), Gary RossSeabiscuit (2003), Alejandro González Iñárritu's 21 Grams (2003), and Patty JenkinsMonster (2003), in which she portrayed Donna, the on-screen aunt of Christina Ricci's character "Selby". 

In 2008, Corley was seen in The Lucky Ones and in 2009, she played "Judge Laura Burch" in F. Gary Gray's action drama Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. Also in 2009, she had a minor role of "Donna" in director Scott Cooper's Crazy Heart, for which Jeff Bridges won an Oscar for best performance in 2010.

Corley was last seen on the screen in 2017, portraying the character of "Rosemary Taylor" in "Unintended Consequences" episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
