Al Capone was never convicted for his most serious crimes, such as murder or racketeering. However, he was eventually convicted of income tax evasion in 1931 and sentenced to 11 years in federal prison.

After his release from prison in 1939, Al Capone's health deteriorated due to syphilis. He spent the rest of his life in retirement in his mansion in Florida until his death in 1947.
