Biography
Ada Prins (18 September 1879, Amsterdam – 20 July 1977, Voorburg) became in 1908 the first woman in the Netherlands to hold a doctorate in chemistry.
Having obtained her doctorate at the University of Amsterdam with the thesis Vloeiende mengkristallen in binaire stelsels, she developed her reputation by writing chemistry text books.
She had a friendly intellectual and romantic relationship with the poet, Herman Gorter from 1901.
