Introduction

Aleksandar Vuksanović (Serbian Cyrillic: Александар Вуксановић; born 3 November 1968), better known by his stage name Aca Lukas, is a Serbian pop-folk singer.

Life and career

He rose to prominence in Belgrade night clubs by performing various genres, from jazz to Gypsy music, before eventually joining Serbian rock musician Viktorija and her band. Lukas later decided to pursue a solo career in turbo-folk music. He released his first studio album in 1995, but acquired enormous fame only upon his next two albums and stand-out songs such as the 1998 Anna Vissi cover 'Lična karta' (ID). In 1999, he embarked on a regional tour and held his first concert in Belgrade's Hala Pionir in front of 10,000 fans.

Today, Lukas remains one of the most popular Serbian musicians. He has had more than ten performances in the Belgrade Arena overall, which is the biggest regional indoor venue. On June 8, 2013 Lukas had his biggest concert at Marakana Stadium in front of 65,000 people.

He also served as a judge on televised singing competition Zvezde Granda.

On the other hand, Vuksanović is also known for his troublesome lifestyle and legal issues. In 2003, he was arrested in the police action "Sablja" for illegal gun possession, and was incarcerated for four months. During the same period, Lukas also admitted having issues with drug addiction, for which he was in rehab in Switzerland, abstaining from the music scene between 2004 and 2005. In 2009, he received gunshot wounds tohis leg while entering the car in front of his home, allegedly due to his unpaid gambling debts. In 2017, Vuksanović's second wife, Sonja, accused him of physically assaulting her. Although denying these accusations, Lukas accepted aplea bargain, according to him, to avoid further court proceedings and media frenzy. As aresult of his past convictions and drug abuse, he was denied United States visa in 2017 as well as Australian in 2019.
