Biography

Abulites (Greek: Ἀβουλίτης) was the Achaemenid satrap of Susiana. Following the defeat of Darius III at Issus, he surrendered Susa to Alexander the Great when the latter approached the city. According to Plutarch, both Abulites and his son Oxathres were put in irons and killed by Alexander with a javelin for their "misconduct" in not properly preparing for Alexander's arrival to Susa and only providing 3000 talents of silver.
