Introduction
Austin Green was an American film and television actor and director. He was active in the mid-1950s through the late-1960s. He is known for appearing in The Story of Mankind (1957,) Ring of Terror (1961,) and directing At the End of the Rainbow (1965.)
Early life
Austin Green was born on September 18, 1907 in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Career
Austin Green made his acting debut in 1954, appearing as "Comrade Mike Ferris" in the television series I Led 3 Lives. He appeared in two episodes: Mailing List and Moving. The following year he was seen portraying a "Lab Man" in television series, The Man Behind the Badge.
In 1957, he was seen in the role of "Abraham Lincoln" in Irwin Allen-directed film The Story of Mankind.
After appearing in a variety of television series such as Medic (1955,) The Adventures of Jim Bowie (1957,) Playhouse 90 (1957,) The Lineup (1958,) M Squad (1960,) Perry Mason (1962,) and The Jack Benny Program (1963,) Green directed his first (and only) film, At the End of the Rainbow, in 1965. The film was written by Harold Vaughn Taylor and had David Alan Bailey, Frank Delfino and Clive Halliday in cast.
Green was last in minor roles in Robert Wise-directed Gertrude Lawrence biographical movie Star! (1968) and Alan J. Pakula-directed comedy/drama film The Sterile Cuckoo (1969.)
Death
Austin Green died at the age of 93 on July 22, 2001 in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii.
