Introduction

Ulrike Stange (born 25 April 1984 in Oschatz) is a German handballer. She plays for the German national team.

Career

From 1998 to 2003, and again from 2005 onwards, she played on the right wing position at Bundesliga club HC Leipzig. Between 2003 und 2005 she was on loan to Borussia Dortmund. In 2009 Ulrike Stange won with HC Leipzig the German Championship. The same year she moved to VfL Oldenburg.

In October 2010 Stange quit professional handball after learning that she was pregnant. In 2012 she moved to London to be with her partner (later husband), German footballer Per Mertesacker, who had just moved to Arsenal. She currently plays for amateur club Thames Handball Club.

International career

The Sports graduate has so far 38 caps (63 goals) for the National team Germany, her International Debut was on 4 March 2005 in Riesa against Croatia.

Personal life

Stange married German footballer Per Mertesacker on 22 June 2013 and they have two sons.
