Introduction

Thomas Service (born 8 March 1976) is a British radio presenter on BBC Radio 3, presenting on the network since 2001.

Early life

He was born in Glasgow on the same day as another musician, Oxfordshire's Gaz Coombes from Supergrass. He attended an independent school in Glasgow, and learned the cello and piano.

He studied Music at the University of York, then studied for a masters in Music at the University of Southampton. He researched John Zorn.

Career

He teaches at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (Trinity College Of Music).

Broadcasting

He joined Radio 3 in 2001, presenting Hear and Now, then in 2003 he presented Music Matters.

He has presented documentaries on BBC Four about music.
