Introduction
Thomas A. Andretta (January 1, 1938 - January 25, 2019) was an American alleged mob associate and suspected hitman in the disappearance of former Teamster president Jimmy Hoffa.
Jimmy Hoffa disappearance
Thomas Andretta, along with Salvatore and Gabriel Briguglio were asked to voluntarily appear in a lineup concerning the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa to which they refused. They were then ordered to appear in the lineup by district judge James P Churchill to be held December 6, 1975. The lineup was held after much confusion generated by attorney William E Buffalino which resulted in the suspects short arrest on the same date. The charge for Willful Disobedience of a Court order was later dismissed.
Later years
In 1979, Thomas and Stephen Andretta were convicted on Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges for receipt of labor peace payoffs from Seatrain Lines along with Anthony Provenzano. Thomas Andretta was sentenced to 20 years in jail. He spent the last years of his life in Las Vegas, Nevada, and died on January 25, 2019.
