Shay Haley

Sheldon Haley (born December 18, 1972), better known as Shae, Shay, or Shade, is an American musician. He is a member of the funk-rock band N*E*R*D with Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. 

N*E*R*D (a backronym for No-one Ever Really Dies) was formed in 1999, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Williams and Hugo were signed by Teddy Riley to Virgin Records as a duo, The Neptunes. After producing songs for several artists throughout the late 1990s, the production duo formed NERD with Haley as a side project of The Neptunes in 2001.

Haley often contributes backup vocals, while Williams carries lead duties, and Hugo supplies the production. His role in the band is often questioned, but in a 2010 interview, Williams stated that Haley is the root of the band. Williams also stated that Haley keeps everyone grounded and together.

Haley appears to keep away from the spotlight, compared to his bandmates, Williams, and, to a lesser extent, Hugo. During an interview by The Source Magazine, Haley stated that this is all intentional as he does not wish to pay the price of fame, such as being mobbed by masses of fans or having to hire a bodyguard.

In November 2010, Haley married Jackie Garcia, niece of actor Andy Garcia and the former girlfriend of slain NFL Safety Sean Taylor.
