Rukshar Mir

Rukshar Mir (born 12 October 1993) is an Indian actress and model. She started her career with modelling and made her acting debut with Om Prakash Rao's Katte, a 2015 romantic drama. The film received mixed reviews from critics, but her role of Shanti was widely acclaimed. Her performance received a special mention in The Times of India which read, "Rukshar walks away with all the praise for a stellar performance".

Rukshar was born on 12 October 1993 in Ealing, London, UK, where her parents were working at the time. After she was born, her family, including an older sister, immediately moved to Goa, India. Rukshar was schooled at Manovikas English Medium School. In 2007, she moved to Bangalore, her current city of residence, where she completed her secondary education at Baldwin Girls' High school.

She received her Higher Secondary School Certificate from Bishop Cotton Girls' School. She studied Humanities/Arts. In school, she received several prizes and awards in dance, acting, singing, theatre, cooking and elocution. She was often referred to as an all-rounder by her teachers. She shined bright in academics, sports, leadership and in extra-circular activities too.

Rukshar in her schooling days enjoyed watching MTV Scooty Teen Diva, a reality television contest that judged contestants on a variety of skills and attributes. Soon after her secondary school in 2009, she decided to audition for the show. She auditioned in Bangalore and was selected; passing through the preliminary and final round. The show was aired in 2009 where she finished as the third runner-up.

In 2012, she participated in Max Miss Bangalore. It is one of Bangalore's most anticipated beauty pageants. The grand finale saw 16 contestants competing for the title. The contestants were judged on the basis of panache and intelligence. Rukshar emerged as the second runner-up.

Soon after emerging as second runner-up in Max Miss Bangalore 2012, Rukshar was noticed by production houses across the city. She did a few ramp shows, modelling assignments, print ads and television advertisements for big brands. Some of the big names include: Bhima Jewellers, Lalitha Jewellers and Kalyan Silks. Her ad Camping made it to the front page of The Times of India and other leading newspapers.

Towards the end of her graduation in 2014, she was offered a Kannada film Katte which was a remake of Tamil Super hit film Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, a romantic drama directed by reputed film director, Om Prakash Rao. Katte marked her acting debut in 2015. The movie received mixed reviews, but her role of Shanti was widely acclaimed. She received a special mention in The Times of India which read, "Rukshar walks away with all the praise for a stellar performance."

In early 2016, she signed to Run Antony opposite Vinay Rajkumar, grandson of legendary actor and singer, Dr. Rajkumar The film was a romantic-thriller written and directed by debutant director, Raghu Shastry. This was her second Kannada film. The film did well and she was recognised for her acting skills. The Times of India reviewed the movie and gave her special mentions. The newspaper stated, "Rukshar Mir excels in her role".

Mir has just finished shooting for Road King, a Kannada film directed by international award- winning filmmaker Randy Kent. She will be playing the character of Manasa. During the production stage, the film garnered media attention because it was the first Indian film to be directed over Skype. The film is in its post-production stage.

Rukshar will also appear in Telugu thriller "Showtime, a film directed by S.S. Kanchi, elder brother of S.S. Rajamouli of Baahubali. She plays the character of Vinitha in the film, who is an independent, career-oriented young city girl. The film is in its post production stage and is yet to release.
