Introduction

Rudolf Buhse (10 April 1905 – 26 November 1997) was a highly decorated Oberst in the Wehrmacht during World War II and a Brigadegeneral in Bundeswehr. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Rudolf Buhse was captured by Allied troops during the fall of Tunisia in 1943, he was released in 1946.
