Introduction
Robert Aubrey Hinde CBE FRS FBA /haɪnd/ (26 October 1923 – 23 December 2016) was a British zoologist, the Emeritus Royal Society Research Professor of Zoology at the University of Cambridge.
Biography
Born in Norwich, England, Hinde was the master of St. John's College, Cambridge in 1989-94. He was the chair of British Pugwash. He studied "the application of biological and psychological data to understanding the bases of religion and ethics" and "eliminating the causes of war".
Hinde was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge and at Balliol College, Oxford. He was a distinguished supporter of the British Humanist Association.
He died on 23 December 2016 at the age of 93.
