Introduction
Rob Sand (born August 12, 1982) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 33rd Iowa State Auditor since 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Career
Sand is from Decorah, Iowa. He graduated from Brown University and the University of Iowa College of Law. He was an Assistant Attorney General in the Iowa Attorney General's office from 2010 through 2017. He prosecuted the Hot Lotto fraud scandal.
In the 2018 elections, Sand ran for Iowa State Auditor as a Democrat. He defeated Republican Mary Mosiman, the incumbent, in the general election. Sand was sworn into office on January 2, 2019.
