Pierre Chareau (4 August 1883 – 24 August 1950) was a French architect and designer.

Early life

Chareau was born in Bordeaux, France. He went to the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris by the time he was 17.

Work

Chareau is credited for building the first house in France made of steel and glass, the Maison de Verre.

His designs were noted for their complex nature.

Chareau was a member of Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne.
