Introduction

Nathan Ryan Dahm (born c. 1983) is a businessman from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, who is a Republican member of the Oklahoma State Senate. First elected in District 33 in 2012, he is term-limited in 2024.

Early life

Dahm graduated from A Beka Christian Academy Home School in 2001. His work history includes engineering technician, dean of a school, and producer. He is currently the owner of a cleaning company.

Political career

Despite coming in narrowly under the top candidate in the Republican primary election, Dahm won the runoff election and did not face a Democratic opponent in the general electionn. He assumed office in November 2012.

Dahm introduced numerous gun bills for the 2013 legislative session, including a bill penalizing the enforcement of federal government gun restrictions in Oklahoma and a bill contradicting a federal ban on guns in schools. In 2014, Dahm introduced the "Piers Morgan Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms Without Infringement Act" which would allow firearms to be openly carried without a permit. Talk show host Morgan invited him onto Piers Morgan Live to debate the legislation.

Dahm also sponsored legislation in the Senate to penalize the enforcement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in Oklahoma.

Dahm sponsored legislation in the Oklahoma Senate that would subject physicians performing abortions to felony charges and revocation of their medical licenses. It passed the Senate, 33-12, on May 19, 2016. The bill was quickly vetoed by Republican Governor Mary Fallin, who cited ambiguity in the wording.
