Monica Langley is a Senior Special Writer for The Wall Street Journal. She is also the author of the best-selling book Tearing Down the Walls: How Sandy Weill Fought His Way to the Top of the Financial World...and Then Nearly Lost it All.
Education
Langley attended the University of Tennessee for her bachelor's degree, graduating with the highest honors in journalism. She then attended the Georgetown University Law Center, graduating cum laude.
Early career
Langley was an adjunct professor of journalism at Columbia University and of First Amendment law at Georgetown University Law Center. She was also a member of the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court, District of Columbia and Tennessee, and was a corporate lawyer for several years.
The Wall Street Journal
Langley joined The Wall Street Journal in the early 1990s. She has written many page-one profiles for the Journal, particularly of newsmakers such as CEOs and presidential candidates. She has also broken news about high-profile companies including General Motors, Boeing, JPMorgan Chase and Microsoft.
She wrote the 2003 bestselling book Tearing Down the Walls: How Sandy Weill Fought His Way to the Top of the Financial World...and Then Nearly Lost it All about Sandy Weill, the CEO of Citigroup. The book was published by Simon & Schuster.
Awards and honors
Langley won the 2009 New York Women in Communications Matrix Award for excellence in newspapers.
Personal life
She is married and has one daughter.
