Michael Lee Amesbury (born 7 May 1969) is an English Labour Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Weaver Vale since the general election in June 2017.

Political career

Amesbury has been a councillor on Manchester City Council representing Fallowfield from 2006.. He stood down as Councillor following his election to Parliament.

He campaigned for 'remain' in the 2016 European Union membership referendum.

He won the Weaver Vale constituency from Conservative incumbent Graham Evans in the 2017 general election on a swing of 4.3%.

He is a member of the UNISON and GMB trade unions.
