Introduction
Mickenly Thoby a.k.a. MiG Arogan (born May 8, 1995) is an American rapper, singer and songwriter.
Early life
Arogan was born in Haiti and lived in Port-au-Prince before moving to New York City in 2012. His father, Thomas Asabath, who was manager of the musical group, Brothers Posse, was noted as an inspiration in Arogan's continuing his family legacy in music.
Career
MiG Arogan created his stage name using the Dutch word for "me" (mij) and modified the word "arrogant" for his second name to allude to the phrase, "I am arrogant." He was known for his ability to "freestyle," or improvise lyrics, without writing them first. He said that since day one he always has been a fan of "gangster music" and the rapper, 50-cent, was his role model
From 2007 through 2008, Arogan was part of the group Sword Hip-Hop with other young rappers in his peer group in Haiti. Later Arogan was a member of Mastagrad Team when he first signed with Mastagrad Recordz and before going solo.
In 2012 he moved to Manhattan to join the American hip hop world, working as a songwriter and motivational speaker with a goal to inspire youth and emerging artists in the music industry.
“Red & Blue," one of Arogan's singles, had a more lyrical delivery than he was known for and it was noted as a pivotal moment for his career as well as for Caribbean Hip Hop. His chart-topping video, "Addicted to Money," was also released in 2018.
