

Introduction
Matt Lampson (born September 6, 1989) is an American soccer player who currently plays as a goalkeeper for Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer.
Career
Youth and College
Lampson played goalkeeper for St. Charles Preparatory School. He competed on the collegiate level at the Northern Illinois University in 2008, before moving to Ohio State University in 2009, where he played until 2011. While at OSU, Lampson earned a series of accolades including All-Big Ten First Team (2010), All-Big Ten Second Team (2009, 2011), All-Great Lakes Region First Team (2010), Big Ten co-Freshman of the Year (2009), eight Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors, and All-Big Ten Fall Academic Team (2011).
Professional
Lampson was signed by Columbus Crew as a Home Grown Player on December 15, 2011.
He made his professional debut on May 29, 2012 in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup against Dayton Dutch Lions.
He made his MLS debut on August 26, 2012 in a regular season game against New England Revolution in relief for Andy Gruenebaum. He managed to seal a 4-3 victory.
In June 2015, Lampson was loaned to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL as replacement for Ryan Thompson who was away on international duty with Jamaica at the 2015 Copa América.
On December 7, 2015 it was announced that Lampson's contract with Columbus had run out and that the club would not be renewing his contract. Lampson was eligible for the 2015 MLS Re-Entry draft but was not selected.
After trial in the preseason, Lampson signed with Chicago Fire on February 26, 2016.
