Introduction
Martin Bieber (10 November 1900 – 19 October 1974) was a German general (Generalmajor) in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded several divisions. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, awarded by Nazi Germany to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Bieber surrendered to the Soviet forces in May 1945 and was held in the Soviet Union as a war criminal until October 1955.
