Introduction

Lyman F. Hoffman is a Democratic member of the Alaska Senate, representing the S district since 1995, and from 1991 through 1992 previously. He was a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1986 through 1990, and from 1993 through 1994.

Affiliation

Hoffman, a registered Democrat, caucused with the Democratic minority during the 28th Senate, from 2013 to 2014. However, he endorsed Republican nominee Dan Sullivan during the 2014 U.S. Senate race. Soon after, he announced he would switch caucuses, becoming the only Democrat to join the Republican-led majority caucus in the 29th Senate, beginning in 2015.

Personal life

Hoffman was sentenced to three days in jail, one year's probation and had his driver's license revoked for 90 days after a drunk driving conviction in June 2004.
