Introduction

Below are some of the minor-league baseball players in the New York Mets organization.

Wuilmer Becerra

Wuilmer Gabriel Becerra (born October 1, 1994) is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder in the New York Mets organization.

On December 17, 2012, the New York Mets traded Catchers Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas, Right-handed Pitcher R.A. Dickey to Toronto Blue Jays for Catcher John Buck, Right-Handed Pitcher Noah Syndergaard, Catcher Travis d'Arnaud and Outfielder Wuilmer Becerra. Becerra was assigned to Gulf Coast League Mets upon his arrival to Mets but began his career with the Kingsport Mets in 2014.

The Mets added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.

P. J. Conlon

Patrick Joshua Conlon (born November 11, 1993) is an Irish-American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization. The Mets selected Conlon in the 13th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of the University of San Diego where he played for the San Diego Toreros. Conlon was born in Belfast but fled with his Catholic family to California to escape The Troubles just shy of his second birthday. He became an American citizen at 16 years old.

Conlon began his professional career in 2015 with the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York–Penn League where he pitched 17 innings in 17 games without giving up an earned run. He began 2016 with the Columbia Fireflies of the Sally League before moving up to the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League. He finished the season with a 1.65 ERA, 0.979 WHIP and 112 strikeouts over 142 innings pitched at the two different levels. Following the season, he was named the Mets Organizational Pitcher of the Year, MLB Pipeline Mets Organizational Player of the Year and, in a fan vote, won the MiLBY Award for Top Starting Pitcher.

Phillip Evans

Phillip Matthew Evans (born September 10, 1992) is an American baseball middle infielder and third baseman in the New York Mets organization. The Mets selected Evans in the 15th round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, California.

Evans spent five seasons at four different levels before joining the Double A Binghamton Mets in 2016. It was his breakought season, as he led the Eastern League in average, defeating Portland Sea Dogs outfielder Aneury Tavárez in the run for the batting title in the last game of the season, edging him .3351 to .3350. Evans also posted sixth-bests in on-base percentage (.485) and slugging (.485), while batting 131 hits in 410 at-bats in 112 game appearances.

Chris Flexen

Christopher Flexen (born July 1, 1994) is an American baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization. He attended Newark Memorial High School in Newark, California. He was drafted in the 14th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft out of high school by the Mets. Flexen spent 2012 with the Kingsport Mets, where he posted a 1-3 record with a 5.63 ERA. Flexen returned to Kingsport for the 2013 season, where he was 8-1 with a 2.09 ERA in 69 innings pitched. In 2014, Flexen played for the Savannah Sand Gnats, where he was 3-5 with a 4.83 ERA. Flexen spent 2015 with Savannah, the Brooklyn Cyclones, and the GCL Mets, where he posted a combined 2.42 ERA between the three clubs. In 2016, he pitched for the St. Lucie Mets where he was 10-9 with a 3.56 ERA. The Mets added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.

Luis Guillorme

Luis Miguel Guillorme Gonzalez (born September 27, 1994) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the New York Mets organization.

Guillorme attended Coral Springs Charter School in Coral Springs, Florida. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 10th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Mets. He played 2014 with the Kingsport Mets and Savannah Sand Gnats. He returned to Savannah in 2015 and was named the South Atlantic League MVP. He played 2016 with the St. Lucie Mets and started 2017 with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Desmond Lindsay

Desmond Alban Lindsay (born January 15, 1997) is an American baseball outfielder in the New York Mets organization. He was drafted by the Mets in the second round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, out of Out-of-Door Academy in Sarasota, Florida. Lindsay was the Mets first pick in the draft as they forfeited their first round pick by signing Michael Cuddyer. He was committed to attend the University of North Carolina but the Mets signed him away from his commitment, giving him a signing bonus of $1,142,700.

    Marcos Molina

    Marcos Molina (born March 8, 1995) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

    Molina signed with the New York Mets as an international free agent in January 2012. He made his professional debut that season with the Dominican Summer League Mets. In 2013, he pitched for the Gulf Coast Mets. Pitching for the Brooklyn Cyclones in 2014, Molina won the Mets Sterling Award, after going 7–3 with a 1.77 earned run average (ERA) and 91 strikeouts. He played 2015 with the St. Lucie Mets and Gulf Coast Mets. He pitched in only nine games due to injury and after the season underwent Tommy John Surgery. He missed the 2016 season recovering from the surgery, but returned to pitch in the Arizona Fall League.

    The Mets added Molina to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.

    Tomas Nido

    Tomas E. Nido (born April 14, 1994) is an American professional baseball catcher in the New York Mets organization.

    Nido attended Orangewood Christian School in Maitland, Florida. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the eighth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut with the Kingsport Mets. Nido played 2013 and 2014 with the Brooklyn Cyclones and 2015 with the Savannah Sand Gnats. In 2016, he played for the St. Lucie Mets and won the Florida State League batting title with a .320 average. The Mets added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.

    Champ Stuart

    Jervis Harvin "Champ" Stuart (born October 11, 1992) is a Bahamian professional baseball player. Stuart plays in Minor League Baseball for the New York Mets' organization.

    Stuart attended Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, and Brevard College. Playing for Brevard's college baseball team, the Brevard Tornadoes, Stuart was twice named to the All-South Atlantic Conference team. The New York Mets in the sixth round, with the 176th overall selection, of the 2013 MLB draft. In 2014, Stuart played for the Savannah Sand Gnats of the Class A South Atlantic League. He began the 2015 season with the St. Lucie Mets of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League.

    On August 26, 2016, it was announced that Stuart would play for the Great Britain national baseball team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic qualifying round at MCU Park in September 2016.

    Thomas Szapucki

    Thomas Mathew Szapucki (born June 12, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

    Szapucki attended William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the fifth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut that season with the Gulf Coast Mets. He started 2016 with the Kingsport Mets and was promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones during the season. Szapucki finished 2016 with a 4-3 record and 1.38 ERA in 52 innings pitched.

    Travis Taijeron

    Travis Nathaniel Taijeron (born January 20, 1989) is a professional baseball right fielder currently playing for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s in the New York Mets minor league system.

    He was born in La Mesa, California and attended Granite Hills High School, where he was a catcher. Before playing professionally, he attended Grossmont College in 2008, where he spent a year and played for their baseball team. In 32 games, he posted a slash line of .382/.472/.563. He transferred to Southwestern College in 2009 and hit .353/.453/.601 in 42 games. For 2010, he moved to Cal Poly Pomona, hitting .345/.441/.670 with 16 home runs and 48 RBI in 52 games. He played 59 games in 2011 and hit .392/.534/.744 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI. He earned numerous honors, including the 2010-11 California Collegiate Athletic Association Male Athlete of the Year, 2011 CCAA Most Valuable Player and Daktronics American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association West Region Player of the Year and a NCAA Division II All-American selection by Daktronics, the NCBWA and the ABCA.

    The Mets drafted him in the 18th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft and assigned him to Low-A Brooklyn. In 56 games, he hit .299/.387/.557 with nine home runs and 44 RBI. He earned his first Player of the Week honor that season, was named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star and was a New York–Penn League Mid-Season All-Star. He hit .255/.362/.477 with 19 home runs and 65 RBI in 112 games split between the Savannah Sand Gnats and St. Lucie Mets in 2012, won another Player of the Week and was a South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star. In 2013, he hit .271/.356/.531 with 38 doubles, 23 home runs, 69 RBI and 131 strikeouts in 120 games split between St. Lucie and the Binghamton Mets. He was a Player of the Week twice and was again a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. With Binghamton in 2014, he hit .248/.357/.476 with 15 home runs and 64 RBI in 101 games and earned another Player of the Week selection. He began 2015 with Las Vegas, his first stay at Triple-A. In his first 15 games, he hit .352/.419/.667.

    He is projected to be, at minimum, a fourth outfielder and a power bat off the bench with the potential to be an effective starting outfielder with 20-home run power. He has been listed on numerous Mets top prospect lists.
