Introduction

Lisa Chambers (born 24 August 1986) is a barrister, Fianna Fáil politician, and Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo constituency, elected at the Irish general election, 2016, on her second attempt.
Chambers is from Castlebar, County Mayo and practises as a barrister, running her own practice in the town. She holds a professional barrister qualification from the King's Inns, a Masters in Commercial Law from University College Dublin (UCD) and a graduate degree in Commerce and Law from NUI Galway (NUIG).
She was a member of Mayo County Council from the 2014 local election until being elected to the Dáil. She is not related to Fianna Fáil politicians Frank Chambers or Jack Chambers.
Chambers was a member of the Reserve Defence Forces (RDF) for 13 years, having joined as a teenager during secondary school. She became an officer in the Army Reserve, serving as a Second Lieutenant, but was required to relinquish her service upon being elected to the Dáil.
She was appointed Spokesperson on Defence in the Fianna Fáil shadow cabinet on 18 May 2016, succeeding Seán Ó Fearghaíl who had been elected Ceann Comhairle of the 32nd Dáil.
