

Leo Docherty
Introduction
Leo Docherty (born 1976) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Aldershot since June 2017. He is a graduate of the University of London and The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. From 2001 to 2007 he served in the Scots Guards. After leaving the army he became a local councillor and Director of the Conservative Middle East Council.
Career
Docherty is a former British Army Captain who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Financial Times called his selection "the highest-profile tussle over a candidate choice, the party leadership rejected a request from activists in Aldershot to be allowed to consider Daniel Hannan, the prominent Eurosceptic MEP, for the safe Tory seat".
Docherty has been Director of the Conservative Middle East Council since 2010.
