Introduction
Kyle Kulinski (born January 31, 1988) is an American talk show host and Social democratic progressive political commentator. He is the host of Secular Talk, also known as The Kyle Kulinski Show.
Background
Kulinski is from Westchester County, New York. He graduated from Iona College in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in psychology. He is of Italian and Polish descent.
Secular Talk
On Secular Talk, Kulinski discusses politics, religion, and culture. A slogan for his show is "Loyal to the Facts. Principles over Politicians."
Secular Talk is produced out-of-house by the TYT Network. It is editorially independent from The Young Turks.
Political beliefs
Kulinski has described himself as "a social democrat, an agnostic-atheist, and a secular humanist." He has said he is an "international moderate," arguing that he is only on the far-left in the United States because "the spectrum has shifted to the far-right."
Kulinski is vehemently critical of the United States' relationship with Saudi Arabia, calling the country "a terrorist state" with "the same ideology as ISIS." He argues that US support of Saudi Arabia contradicts their supposed advocacy of "democracy and human rights." He has also stated that the US should stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia, withdraw assistance in the Yemeni Civil War, and impose sanctions. He is a critic of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He is also critical to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and blockade of Gaza.
Kulinski frequently criticizes neoliberalism and believes that "establishment Democrats" appeal to moderates at the cost of marginalizing the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. He believes that this strategy has failed, and points to Bernie Sanders's favorability ratings as evidence that progressive candidates would be more successful. Kulinski has also spoken favorably on politicians such as Alan Grayson, Elizabeth Warren, Tulsi Gabbard, Jill Stein, Ro Khanna, and Bernie Sanders.
He voted for Barack Obama in 2008, but he was disappointed in Obama, purely in the drone strikes, and did a protest vote for Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein in 2012. He later voted for her again in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections as well due to his hatred of Hillary Clinton won primaries over Bernie Sanders, and also voted some of their party members in New York state elections.
Justice Democrats
In January 2017, Kyle Kulinski joined The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur and former leaders of the 2016 Bernie Sanders presidential campaign in founding Justice Democrats. Justice Democrats is a progressive political action committee that says its goal is to "put an end to Washington corruption and bring about election reform."
Religion
Kulinski is a self-described agnostic atheist and antitheist whose atheist views are a focal point of his show. He cites Richard Dawkins's The God Delusion as his favorite book.
He frequently criticizes the religious right over their stance on various social issues, including abortion, gay marriage, pornography, women's rights, and drug legalization.
