Kyle Dion
Introduction
Kyle Dion (April 11, 1994), is an American singer and songwriter from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
Early life
Kyle Dion was born in Connecticut the 11th of April, 1994.
Dion started writing music when he was very young, but he wrote his first official song at age nine.
Dion's father was a rapper in Connecticut. He brought him to his first studio session. Dion said "I think I was even younger than nine to be honest, maybe seven. Ever since that session, I started feeling some kind of way about music. I didn’t know music was supposed to be recorded in a studio, y’know? There were certain steps you do and they’re lip-syncing in the video—I was learning all this. I’ve been surrounded by music since I was younger. My mom’s dad was a famous Portuguese singer around the world—she says I get it from him".
Career
In 2014 he released his first mixtape, Sixes & Sevens. Dion describes the mixtape as him finding himself & putting all his experiences in one project.
Later, in 2016 he released his first EP, Painting Sounds. The EP spawned two singles: "Timed Out" and "Get You Alone". According to Dion, "Timed Out" is about "the theory of relativity, how time is relative and from that perspective how funny it is that everyone is scared of running out of it."
The single "Hold On To Me" was released to iTunes, Spotify and SoundCloud in August 2016.
Artistry
Musical style
Dion introduces himself as a funky, R&B artist with a little bit of jazz, soul, and pop. When he was asked about which artists inspired him Dion said "I don’t think a particular artist inspires me. I think the whole movement of music in this generation is definitely inspiring. Artists doing their thing and having their own individuality. I think the world of music today is inspiring, not a particular person."
Dion doesn't have any particular inspiration, but he told that the first album he ever bought was Usher's Confessions.
About the artists that Dion wants to collaborate with, he comments "Sooo many. Can I say multiple? I mean the ultimate would be Micheal Jackson but that would never happen because he’s no longer here. But I would love to work with Chance The Rapper, Childish Gambino, SZA, The Internet".
HotNewHipHop wrote that Dion had "strong lyrical and melodic instincts, as well as an extended vocal range due to his natural falsetto".
