Karin Maria Argoud (born November 8, 1960) is an American film and television, best known for her role as "Sonja Harper" in the American sitcom Mama's Family for its first two seasons.

Early life

Karin Argoud was born on November 8, 1960.

Career

Argoud made her acting debut in 1981, aged 20, as "Renie Lake" in the "Tough Girl" episode of the ABC Afterschool Special program, alongside Bibi Besch and Lin McCarthy. In the same year, she was seen as "Loretta" in the "Catnip" episode of the TV horror/thriller series Darkroom.

In 1982, she appeared in director Roger Spottiswoode's TV movie The Renegades, starring Patrick SwayzePhilip Casnoff, and Randy Brooks.

After appearing in an episode each of Quincy M.E. (1983) and Teachers Only (1983), Argoud landed the recurring role of "Sonja Harper" in comedy series Mama's Family. She was seen in 28 episodes, appearing alongside Vicki LawrenceKen Berry, and Dorothy LymanMama's Family was canceled by NBC, then put into syndication, however, her and her brother's character, Vinton 'Buzz' Harper, Jr. (played by Eric Brown), was written out of the series. Her character supposedly went off to college and this fact was mentioned by her grandmother, Thelma (played by Vicki Lawrence), once in the third-season premiere.

1992 saw Argoud's film debut with a minor role in John De Bello's comedy Killer Tomatoes Eat France!, starring Marc PriceAngela Visser, and Steve Lundquist. Her next feature film was Stephen Erickson's drama The Stonecutter, in which she was seen in one of the leading characters alongside Michael Cavalieri, Trisha Melynkov, and Al Sapienza.

In 2017, she produced and directed a short documentary film titled Top Row.

Argoud was last seen on the screen in 2019, Julian Ybarra's short film The Sound of the Mountain.

Personal life

Argoud is married to cinematographer Kevin Morrisey. The couple has two children and the family resides in Los Angeles, California.
